Our challenge was to:
Create a matching sail for your yacht.
- Explain how you would work out how much material would be required to make both sails.
Measurements
- To know how much material I need I will get my three measurements by measuring my triangle's sides with a ruler. My measurements were, 13cm, 5.9cm and 11.5cm.
- Then I went onto a piece of paper and drew up my triangle with the same measurement but for the right side of the sail.2
- Once I have cut it out and put it the other way to make a rectangle with the length to get your area. 5.9x11.5=67.85cm², that means the area is 67.85cm²
