Weaving Poem

We will have met the success criteria when we
  • Can work out the meaning of new vocabulary.

  • Can independently locate and follow information within an
  • explanation text.

  • Identify key words within a cloze activity.

  • Can create a basket to reflect our skills at reading and following
  • instructions.

One thing I thought was challenging was weaving the baskets, because I started at the start and struggled through weaving the base. Luckily I had Bryce (one of my classmates) to help me through the struggling tasks.

Hermit Crab Poem

Hermit crab
Lives in isolation
Away from his friend
He like to live in a small shell
Away from the stinky smell
And the whole world ends

Sike
But there was a thunder strike
Near my house
The thunder scared the mouse

Away from the nation

Sea Fever Poem

Ocean,

Deep Dark,

Water, wind, sun,

Swooping seagulls take over,

Strong gust through the air,

Red, orange, yellow the sun radiated,

hot, hot, hot, the sun blazed bright,

Rough condition shaking the boat back and forth,

Water splashes up high, straight my feathered wet wings,

Safe Cycling Skills - A statistical investigation

Safe Cycling Skills - A statistical investigation

Question: Are Karoro School senior students safe cyclists on the roads?

Recently Room One students participated in a safe cycling skills programme facilitated
by the New Zealand Police.

How to check if your helmet is tight enough?
Students learned about the correct way to wear their bicycle helmet. Helmets need to be
tightened at the side to fit under your ears, the back of the helmet needs to be snug to your
head so it doesn't flap around. You also have to do the 2 finger test, one on your forehead and
one on your eyebrow and bring your helmet down to your top finger.

How to do the bike check?
We also did the bike check looking to see if the brakes were working. The frame is in the
“N” shape. The chain needs lubrication on it because if you don't put lubrication on it the
chain will get rusty and snap. To check the tires you put Two fingers on either side of the
tyres and push in to check the tyre pressure. Before you check you reflectors check your
spokes to see if they are all intact is one spoke is loose or coming undone you need to replace
the rim. Look for your reflectors you should have one on the front and back of your foot pedals,
you have to have a red one behind the seat post, and one the handle bars at the front of the bike.

Road Rules?
There is lots of rules you have to follow but I will talk about all you need to know to
get on the road. What side of the road do you drive or ride on? Yes your right the left
side is the side you have to ride or drive on. You also have to indicate, This is how you indicate.>>>>>

The second session involved a skills based session on the court.
Students had to go round the court and do some obstacles like the
ramp, ladder, weaving through cones, indicating and stopping hand signals.

My marks were:

Approx 1
metre from kerb
Scanning for
hazards
Checking
parked cars
Look behind
before hand signals
Correct
hand signal
Look behind
after hand
signals

A= Max B= Noah. Red = highest score. Blue = persons score.
This chart shows me and Noah score are different, That means that I am better
at some skills than Noah and Noah is better than me at other skills. the red means
what the highest score we can get and the blue is what we got.

Here is some percentages of other people that biked the same course.

One of the collated graphs showed these results.  I think that this shows That
Cameron is better that Bryce at the road course.

My recommendation is that we get out and ride more like once a week or a
couple times a month so we can get more concentration on the road and on the
road rules. I bet by time we have done a year of road rules biking we will be way better
and safer on the road.
