Show an increasing understanding of how to shape texts for different purposes and audiences.
Context: Rotary Speech Competition and the New Zealand Elections
Success Criteria: we will have met our learning intentions when we can
- Plan our speech using Coggle
- Construct texts that show an awareness of purpose and audience through deliberate choice of content, language, and text form.
- Convey and sustain personal voice where appropriate.
- Write and film our own version of a “edTalk” to share with our peers.

Sails Measurements
Our challenge was to:
- Create a matching sail for your yacht.
- Explain how you would work out how much material would be required to make both sails.
Measurements
- To know how much material I need I will get my three measurements by measuring my triangle's sides with a ruler. My measurements were, 13cm, 5.9cm and 11.5cm.
- Then I went onto a piece of paper and drew up my triangle with the same measurement but for the right side of the sail.2
- Once I have cut it out and put it the other way to make a rectangle with the length to get your area. 5.9x11.5=67.85cm², that means the area is 67.85cm²

Weta Workshop poem
Ground Weta Workshop Poem
Ground weta blending into wood,
So not to be seen like it should,
Some older that others,
But they are still brothers,
They don’t have udders,
But mate in Summers,
What type of weta are they,
Depends on where they live and where they stay,
But when they come across something they haven't seen before They think it's bizarre,
When they see another weta they don't know who they are,
Little ground weta fighting for the leaf,
But when the caterpillar come along all he wanted to do was be a sneaky thief,
Make a noise behind them and they’ll hear you from their knees,
You can find them in trees,
They might rumble in the breeze.
Possums and mice think weta are fun,
Because they always end up in their tum.

Literacy Reading poam
Very exciting,
Looking around for the sea,
Fast wind zooming past,
Find the rising sun,
Follow the birds like a map,
Birds like eating worms.
Wiggle like a worm,
Run from the sun baby worm,
Eating red apples.
Ranginui rising,
Papatūānuku cries.
Kōmaru rises.
Night on the marae,
Sleeping in the wharenui,
